"On any given day, there are between 100,000 and 130,000 planes flying through the skies all over the world. It's a remarkable feat of engineering and planning. But we can't forget the key people who get us to our favorite destinations safely and in comfort: flight attendants. That's why the next time you fly, you might consider following a few of Charity Moore's tips on how to show your appreciation for them."
"For starters, she says, treats are always welcome. "We love goody bags," Moore said. "Anything like Starbucks gift cards, hand sanitizer, Chapstick, under-eye patches, or little snacks." As Moore noted, flight attendants often spend up to 14 hours in the air. "We can't get off, so it's just nice to have a little treat or know we're appreciated." Moore's next tip is a simple one:"
"Moore also noted the crew appreciates it when passengers show basic manners, especially when ordering their meals. "We love it when you say, 'Can I have a ginger ale, please' instead of 'ginger ale.' If you just use basic kindness and manners, it is noted because not everyone is doing that," Moore said, adding that it's also good practice to take off your headphones when the food service begins and not block the aisle when attendants are rolling through with a cart."
Between 100,000 and 130,000 planes fly daily worldwide, and flight attendants play a central role in passenger safety and comfort. Small gestures such as giving goody bags, gift cards, hand sanitizer, Chapstick, under-eye patches, or snacks are appreciated because crews can work up to 14-hour shifts and often cannot get off the aircraft. Respecting the seatbelt sign and using basic politeness during meal service—speaking courteously, removing headphones, and not blocking the aisle—makes service smoother. Clear, specific drink and coffee orders speed service and earn gratitude from attendants.
