Tesla's Cybertruck is officially a flop
Briefly

The Cybertruck has faced disappointing sales and extreme depreciation since its launch, sinking from 5,175 units registered in July 2024 to just 2,000 by April 2025. Reports indicate a staggering 45% depreciation within a year, with owners reporting drastic drops in trade-in values. Issues such as design flaws and safety recalls have plagued the Cybertruck, creating doubts about its market acceptance. Despite initial excitement and inflated prices, the vehicle’s resale value has sharply declined. Tesla's online trade-in estimates tend to be misleading, leaving owners with a grim outlook for recovery in value.
According to an estimate obtained in Tesla's app by an owner, a $100,000 AWD Foundation Series with about 6,200 miles on the odometer is now worth $65,400. That's a 34.6% drop in its value in just one year.
The Cybertruck has depreciated by 45% after only one year, according to Car Guru. The depreciation is so bad that Tesla wasn't accepting its own children as trade-ins.
