I booked coach and business-class tickets on Amtrak trains. The upgrade wasn't worth the added price.
Briefly

Traveling on Amtrak trains in both coach and business class revealed minimal differences in experience. The writer, after evaluating a 10-hour journey from NYC to Niagara Falls in business class for $168, found it underwhelming. With little more than a larger seat and a complimentary beverage distinguishing the two classes, they opted for coach on a subsequent trip from Vancouver to Seattle, at just $50. The perceived value of business class, primarily in extra space and added privacy, did not justify the expense in their experience.
Ultimately, my experience confirmed that business class on Amtrak is not significantly different from coach. It's not worth the additional cost for the marginal benefits.
The difference between coach and business class was minor—a slightly larger seat and a complimentary can of Coke made the upgrade feel underwhelming.
