Jakob Poeltl has been signed by the Toronto Raptors to a multiyear contract extension reportedly worth $104 million over four years. Poeltl averaged career-high stats of 14.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 57 games last season, shooting 62.7% from the field. He was originally drafted by the Raptors in 2016 and later traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 2018. Poeltl expressed his desire to remain with the Raptors long-term and acknowledged the potential of the team's young core.
"I want to be a Raptor for life. Toronto has always felt like home for me. Thanks to [general manager Bobby Webster] and team ownership for believing in me."
"We have a young core that's full of potential and I believe we're ready to take the next step. I can't wait to get together back on the Scotiabank Arena court."
