Michael Stefanic joins Blue Jays in Seattle, Andres Gimenez heads to injured list
Briefly

In response to a roster gap caused by a quad injury to second baseman Andrés Giménez, the Toronto Blue Jays have promoted Michael Stefanic from the AAA Buffalo Bisons. Stefanic, a 29-year-old non-drafted free agent, has had previous experience with the Angels and offers versatility as he primarily plays second base but can also cover third and shortstop. To accommodate Stefanic, the team designated reliever Dillon Tate for assignment. If Tate is not claimed by another team, he may choose free agency.
The Toronto Blue Jays have selected Michael Stefanic from triple-A after placing second baseman Andrés Giménez on the 10-day injured list due to a quad injury.
Stefanic, a non-drafted free agent, has made an impressive journey to the big leagues and will primarily play second base but is capable at other infield positions.
Dillon Tate has been designated for assignment to make room for Stefanic, and if he clears waivers, he can elect for free agency.
Tate wore the number 9 jersey, becoming the seventh full-time pitcher in Blue Jays history to wear a single-digit number on the mound.
