Preliminary Player Negotiation opens June 1 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET, allowing players already in the league to switch teams. Expansion occurs in six phases, mostly in early June, with Troy Ryan as newly named General Manager and Head Coach tasked with selections. Each team protects three players, preventing expansion teams from contacting or signing them. Montreal Victoire is expected to protect Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, and goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens. Phase 1 runs June 2-3, while Phase 2 runs June 5-8, when Hamilton, Detroit, San Jose, and Las Vegas submit 20-player Exclusive Negotiation Target Lists for unprotected players. The PWHL Draft follows on June 17, selecting additional players for San Jose.
