Panthers head coach Paul Maurice addressed several topics after practice, focusing on his team's performance in restraining star scorer Auston Matthews from scoring in their playoff series. Maurice emphasized that while players like Matthews may have opportunities, their chances can fluctuate due to factors like saves and deflections. He expressed confidence in his team's strategies and acknowledged the pressure of being in a crucial playoff situation. Furthermore, he dismissed the concept of momentum as a determinant in series outcomes, highlighting how every playoff matchup has unique circumstances and challenges.
For Auston Matthews, I feel the same way. When I watch the video, he has the puck a bunch. I am not feeling good about it behind the bench.
Sometimes, it goes in for them. I would say that is different for a guy on the fourth line... The guys who score in the 50s or 60s are getting the looks.
It should help that so many players were on the team last year down 2-1. But every playoff series is different. It has a different feel.
I am not a big believer in momentum... Four or five minutes in, it looked like we might lose it 30-0. I am not a big believer in that.
