"At the professional level, Buhr's always-in-motion off-puck game and physicality will become even more valuable. He's a battler with extremely projectable tools as a driver in the NHL."
The Toronto Maple Leafs traded power winger Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken at the deadline for draft picks as the team struggled in the standings. Rather than accept his absence, the Leafs signed Brandon Buhr, an undrafted NCAA free agent from Union College, to a one-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2026-27 season. Buhr will play for the AHL's Toronto Marlies for the remainder of the current season. The Burnaby, BC native played in the BCHL before attending Clarkson University and later transferring to Union College, where he spent three successful years. Elite Prospects ranked Buhr as the No. 4 undrafted NCAA free agent, praising his projectable tools and off-puck game that should translate well to professional hockey.
