Leafs trade Ryan Reaves to San Jose
Briefly

The Dallas Stars traded Matt Dumba to Pittsburgh, while the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Ryan Reaves to San Jose in exchange for Henry Thrun. Reaves, 38, played 35 games without scoring, recording 103 hits and one fight. His role as enforcer has been supplanted by Michael Pezzetta. Thrun, 24, is a 6'2", 210 lbs left-shot defender with a $1 million salary, RFA status, and arbitration rights. He struggled on San Jose, lacking significant responsibility or special team involvement, playing third pair minutes and performing poorly compared to teammates.
Reaves ended up playing only 35 games for the Leafs last year wherein he did not score a goal, dished out 103 hits, engaged in only one fight, and took four penalties.
Thrun makes $1 million and is an RFA with arbitration rights next summer.
Thrun was the worst of the lot on the Sharks, as he was played in third pair minutes and wasn't on either special team regularly.
Reaves' role as occasional on-ice enforcer has seemingly been replaced with the free agent signing of Michael Pezzetta.
