"It's been wild. (GM Brad Treliving) called me a couple of days ago, said we're taking you out of the lineup. Thought (a trade would) probably happen a little sooner, then it's been the last 48 hours kind of waiting it out."
"Yeah we kind of talked about it, there was mutual interest in trying to get it done, I think it just came down to where the team was at and how things were going for the organization. I think (Treliving) just wanted to take a bit of a different approach and try and rejig the team as much as he could."
"It's a place that I've loved to play for a long time. I was super happy with the opportunity that everyone gave me in that organization."
McMann was scratched on Wednesday for roster management purposes and subsequently traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs. GM Brad Treliving informed him of the lineup removal, with the trade occurring within 48 hours. McMann and Treliving had discussed a contract extension with mutual interest, but the team decided to pursue a different direction and rejig the roster. McMann, an undrafted player who signed with the Toronto Marlies in 2020 after his college career at Colgate University, made his Maple Leafs debut in 2022-23 and became a regular the following season. He expressed gratitude for his opportunity with the organization while experiencing steady improvement, currently posting 19 goals and 13 assists this season.
