The Detroit Tigers’ Tarik Skubal is drawing trade speculation as the Tigers sit at 21-32 and the Toronto Blue Jays struggle to reach .500 at 25-29. Adding a back-to-back Cy Young winner would be appealing for a playoff push, but the Blue Jays are not positioned to take that kind of gamble. Their rotation has been heavily affected by injuries and roster moves, leaving only Kevin Gausman as a starter from the season-opening group. Dylan Cease’s placement on the Injured List and other losses have left the fifth starter role vacant and created a need for replacements. Even with Trey Yesavage’s return, depth remains thin, making an immediate Skubal acquisition unrealistic.

Not financially, not competitively, and honestly, not organizationally either. Even if they have been named as one of the four teams that will be bidding for his services, there may be way more smoke than fire when it comes to Skubal and the Blue Jays."
