TTC bringing Line 2 subway service back to pre-pandemic levels, Toronto mayor says | CBC News
"With more people in the city mandated back to the office this fall, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will soon bring weekday subway service on Line 2 back to pre-pandemic levels, Mayor Olivia Chow announced Thursday. Starting Oct. 12, trains on the east-west Bloor-Danforth line will be scheduled to arrive roughly every 2.5 minutes during morning rush hour, with increased service throughout weekdays, Chow said in a TTC news release."
"Six added trains will allow up to 6,000 more passengers during peak periods, the release said. Torontonians deserve better, more frequent transit, and we continue to work towards providing just that, Chow said. Today's announced service increase will benefit thousands of customers who use Line 2 daily, and we look forward to continuing to deliver even better public transit for the residents of this city."
"Bus service on some routes will also increase as part of the change, according to the release: 72 Pape: Trip times will be adjusted in the early morning and late evening to connect riders to subway service on Line 2 and the 325 Don Mills bus. 73 Royal York: More buses will be added in the late evening on weekends. Trip times will also be adjusted in the early morning and late evening to align with the start and end of subway service on Line 2. 94 Wellesley: Service will increase to every 10 minutes to provide a more frequent alternate route to riders affected by diversions on the 506 Carlton route. Service will also begin at 8 a.m. on Sundays."
Weekday subway service on Line 2 will return to pre-pandemic levels beginning Oct. 12, with trains scheduled roughly every 2.5 minutes during morning rush hour and increased weekday service. Six added trains will enable up to 6,000 additional passengers during peak periods. Bus service adjustments include revised trip times on the 72 Pape and 73 Royal York routes and increased frequency and Sunday start time on the 94 Wellesley route. TTC leadership emphasized focusing on basics to deliver faster, more frequent service as in-office mandates and employer returns increase transit demand.
