
"Police have identified an unhoused man who died after an unprovoked attack in downtown Toronto at the end of August, and say they are still trying to reach his next of kin. Joseph Eric Aubin, 62, died on Sept. 4, nearly a week after he was attacked with a weapon by two people who approached him while he was sleeping on a bench in the area of Queen Street W. and Bay Street."
"A 12-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man have been charged in connection with Aubin's death, as well as in a series of violent incidents that allegedly happened on Aug. 31. Police released Aubin's identity in a news release Wednesday, and said they have been unable to locate his next of kin to tell them about his death despite exhaustive efforts. They say he went by the name Eric and is believed to be from Quebec."

He was struck with a weapon by two people, taken to hospital with serious injuries, released, and later found without vital signs in a different part of the city before being pronounced dead on Sept. 4. A 12-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man have been charged in connection with his death and related violent incidents on Aug. 31. Police released Aubin's identity but have been unable to locate his next of kin despite exhaustive efforts and are asking anyone with information to contact Toronto police.
