Joe Mantiply is scheduled for arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after knee inflammation led to his placement on the injured list on May 19. A second opinion preceded the decision, and Blue Jays manager John Schneider said the procedure is intended to clean up damage and is not expected to be season-ending. The operation date and recovery timeline remain undetermined. Mantiply’s absence adds to a 2026 pitching injury wave affecting Dylan Cease, Shane Bieber, Max Scherzer, Cody Ponce, and José Berríos, plus relievers Yimi García and Tommy Nance. Before the injury, Mantiply posted a 2.04 ERA and 2.84 FIP across 17 appearances and had become the bullpen’s second lefty behind Mason Fluharty after Brendon Little was demoted. That role now shifts to rookie Adam Macko, who has not allowed a run in his first seven Blue Jays appearances, striking out five in six innings, and is likely to see an extended run if performance continues.
