Toronto Blue Jays activate Nathan Lukes from injured list, option Davis Schneider

The Toronto Blue Jays activated outfielder Nathan Lukes from the injured list and optioned utility player Davis Schneider to the minor leagues. Lukes missed time after a hamstring sprain suffered while running the bases on April 24. Before the injury, he produced 10 hits in six games and had shaken off vertigo that affected him early in the season. Schneider has struggled offensively, posting a .127/.295/.211 line and going 3-for-34 over the last 30 days with 17 strikeouts and eight walks. Lukes batted second in his return against the Miami Marlins. Lukes is expected to provide lineup stability and improve outfield defense, while Schneider gets a chance to reset at Triple-A Buffalo.
