"It means a lot to represent my country, where my parents are from, because Albania is not really represented in the Winter Olympics or any Olympics really, she said. Brunga, who was born in Toronto and holds dual citizenship with Albania, first started competing when she was six-years-old at the Craigleith Ski Club at Blue Mountain, about two hours north of the city."
"I think it's a great achievement, and it's good for her development not only in the sport, just as a person, he said. We are proud of her. There's a lot of pressure on her, she definitely wants to do the best that she can, he added that due to her dual citizenship, it gave Brunga the opportunity to compete for Albania."
Lisa Brunga is a 17-year-old Toronto-born skier with dual Albanian citizenship who will debut at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games in the women's slalom for Albania. She began skiing at age six at the Craigleith Ski Club at Blue Mountain and has competed on four continents. Brunga is a Grade 12 student at Branksome Hall and is the youngest member of Albania's four-skier Olympic team. She spent a week in Albania before the Games, received strong family and local support, and her coach, Bebe Zoricic, called the Olympics a great achievement for her development as an athlete and person.
