
"A man has died after being tasered by police late Sunday afternoon in North York, prompting an investigation by the province's police watchdog. Toronto police responded "to a disturbance at a house" at 5:41 p.m. near Keele Street and Finch Avenue West, said a release by Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU). On social media, police said a man at the scene was armed with a knife."
"Police were involved "in a physical altercation" with the man living at the home and deployed a taser, said the province's police watchdog. The man was taken into custody, but soon went into medical distress. The SIU said paramedics were called and officers "provided medical attention" to the man. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, said the SIU. "Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case," said the SIU release."
