
"Transit service on the Scarborough busway will begin next September, Mayor Chow announced on Friday. The four-kilometre designated bus corridor will run along the route of the former Scarborough RT from Kennedy Station to Ellesmere Station and will provide service to 120,000 people every week, Chow said at a news conference on Friday. The people of Scarborough deserve reliable and efficient transit options, Chow said in a TTC news release announcing the busway."
"A trip from Scarborough Centre Station and Kennedy Station is expected to take about 15 minutes once the project is implemented, according to the release. The busway was originally projected to open in 2027, the release said, but is now set to open months early, before the end of September 2026. Since the closure of the Scarborough RT in 2023, the TTC has been running replacement bus service. A subway extension into Scarborough from Kennedy Station, is also in the works according Metrolinx's website."

The corridor will serve about 120,000 people every week and a trip between Scarborough Centre and Kennedy is expected to take roughly 15 minutes once implemented. The busway’s opening has been moved forward from an original 2027 projection to before the end of September 2026. Since the Scarborough RT closed in 2023, the TTC has operated replacement bus service. A separate subway extension into Scarborough from Kennedy Station remains planned by Metrolinx.
