"The Toronto Blue Jays are adding a veteran Canadian pitcher to the minor league depth charts. Per the MiLB transactions log, the Jays have signed Gatineau, Que. native Phillippe Aumont to a minor league deal. While it hasn't been formally announced, the deal likely also includes an invite to big league spring training. Aumont has spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues, dating back to 2012 through 2015."
"Aumont has also been a prominent figure on the international stage for Team Canada over the years. He has pitched for Canada at the 2009, 2013, and 2023 World Baseball Classic tournaments, and is listed on the 2026 roster as well. Aumont has also donned the Maple Leaf for the 2015 Pan American Games, 2015 WBSC Premier12 Tournament, 2019 Pan American Games, and the 2019 WBSC Premier12 tournament."
Phillippe Aumont signed a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, with the move logged by MiLB and likely including a spring-training invite. Aumont spent parts of four MLB seasons from 2012–2015, appearing in 46 games for the Philadelphia Phillies with a 6.80 ERA across 43 2/3 innings. He compiled an extensive minor-league career (567 2/3 innings from 2008–2018), owns a 4.38 MiLB ERA and 9.9 K/9 over more than 297 games, and finished in Independent Ball with the Ottawa Champions. Aumont signed with Toronto in 2020 but did not pitch due to the COVID-cancelled season, retired and farmed in Quebec, and has a long record representing Team Canada in multiple international tournaments. A former 2007 first-round pick and the first Quebec-born first-rounder, Aumont, now 37, is pursuing a return to the majors while preparing for another international tournament.
