Raptors drop third straight game as Wembanyama, Spurs cruise to win
"While the Toronto Blue Jays were busy handling business against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a whopper of a World Series Game 3 at Dodger Stadium, the Toronto Raptors were getting their business handed to them nearly 1,400 miles away at Frost Bank Center against the San Antonio Spurs, falling 121-103 on Monday night. By the way, both the Raptors and Blue Jays games started at 8:00 pm ET."
"As has been the main problem for the Raptors to start the season, it was a horrid defensive start. Reigning Rookie of the Year award winner Stephon Castle had two easy drives to the rim, while Harrison Barnes canned an open triple to help San Antonio get out to a 10-2 lead. It then turned into the Brandon Ingram and Victor Wembanyama show. While Ingram drained midrange dribble jumper after midrange dribble jumper, Wembanyama used his alien-like frame and skill combination to do 360-degree layups."
Both the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Blue Jays began games at 8:00 pm ET, with the Raptors losing 121-103 at Frost Bank Center while the Blue Jays' World Series game ran much later. The Raptors were playing the second night of a back-to-back after facing the Dallas Mavericks. San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama entered averaging 33.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 6.0 blocks and led the Spurs' early dominance. Toronto opened with defensive lapses, allowing easy drives and an open three that put San Antonio up 10-2. Brandon Ingram and Wembanyama pushed the lead, the Spurs ran 13-0, and though Collin Murray-Boyles sparked a 12-5 response, Toronto could not recover.
