"Altogether, Yesavage threw 139 2/3 innings between the regular season and the playoffs, a marked increase over the 93 1/3 innings he threw at East Carolina University in 2024. Coming off his success last year, he will feature prominently in a rotation mix that also includes Dylan Cease, Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber (when he returns from an expected stint on the injured list)."
"At this point in Spring Training, Yesavage is built up to one inning and has not yet appeared in a game, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. That is hardly unexpected, as even established starters are built up gradually to a full workload by the end of camp. Manager John Schneider confirmed that Yesavage's slow build-up is intentional, with the plan being for him to get one more live batting practice session before joining games."
"Right now we still view him as a starter, and we want to keep that pretty regular. Last year was a year of disrupting a young guy's routine as much as we could, so we want to be"
Trey Yesavage experienced a remarkable 2025 season after being drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round of 2024. Beginning at Single-A with a 2.43 ERA, he advanced through High-A and Double-A, where he struck out 38.0% of hitters with a 9.0% walk rate. At Triple-A, he did not allow a home run in 17 1/3 innings while maintaining a high strikeout rate. Yesavage made three regular season appearances and six postseason appearances with the major league club, including two starts and a World Series Game 7 relief appearance. His 139 2/3 innings across both levels significantly exceeded his 93 1/3 innings at East Carolina University in 2024. For 2026, the Blue Jays plan to feature him prominently in their rotation alongside established starters, though an innings limit is anticipated given his youth and escalating workload.
