
"Around 9:05 p.m. Friday, a person driving a Mini Cooper struck a pedestrian around Eglinton Avenue W. and Fallingbrook Drive, Peel Regional Police said in a news release. The pedestrian, a 56-year-old man from Mississauga, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. The driver fled the scene without checking on the person they struck, police said."
"Investigators say nearby CCTV footage showed a male suspect removing the rear license plate from his vehicle and placing it in the trunk before fleeing. Police are looking for a silver or grey four-door Mini Cooper S with a black roof and "unique rims." They said the model year is between 2014 and 2018 and the car may have visible damage to the front passenger side, hood and windshield."
"Any repair shops with a vehicle matching the description are urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers immediately. The suspect is strongly advised to seek legal counsel and turn himself in to the police, police said. Investigators are reviewing additional video footage obtained along the path the suspect drove, police said. Police are asking anyone with dash camera footage from the area or information about the incident to contact them or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers."
