A 77-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV while trying to cross Highway 404 in Richmond Hill on Saturday morning. Police responded to the incident at 8:54 a.m. in the southbound lanes at Highway 7. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Highway 404 southbound lanes were closed at 16th Avenue and will remain closed until late afternoon as the police manage the investigation.
