NHL insider believes major Maple Leafs trade could be coming
Morgan Rielly is under contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs through 2029-30 with a $7.5 million annual cap hit, but his performance has declined over the past two seasons. Interest in moving him is complicated by his non-movement clause, which limits Toronto’s flexibility, though it may be less rigid than before. With new front-office management and an upcoming coaching staff, a change in direction is expected, making a fresh start increasingly likely for the longest-tenured Maple Leaf. Many are not sure whether teams will be willing to take on his entire contract; however, there are reports that he can be moved. Rielly also holds a non-movement clause, which will make this trade significantly tougher for the Maple Leafs."
"Moving on from Morgan Rielly can be crucial for the newly appointed general manager, as it would free up cap space they could use to address areas that need improvement if the Maple Leafs are going to return to contention n"
