"Anthony Stolarz couldn't have picked a better time to remind everyone of his value. With a strong performance to close out Toronto's West Coast road trip, the veteran goaltender helped the Maple Leafs knock off Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, and, in the process, presented general manager Brad Treliving with an intriguing dilemma. Coming back from a nerve injury that sidelined him for two months, Stolarz had his best performance in three appearances since returning to the lineup."
"He turned aside 34 of 36 shots, none more spectacular than a cross-crease, post-to-post extension to rob Edmonton star Leon Draisaitl midway through the third period to preserve Toronto's two-goal lead. The goaltender's performance brought back memories of his first year with the Leafs, when he led the NHL in save percentage, and with partner Joseph Woll, formed one of the league's best goaltending tandems."
Anthony Stolarz returned from a two-month nerve injury and delivered a strong performance to close Toronto's West Coast road trip, helping the Maple Leafs defeat the Edmonton Oilers. He stopped 34 of 36 shots, including a cross-crease, post-to-post extension to rob Leon Draisaitl and preserve a two-goal lead. The performance recalled Stolarz's first year with Toronto when he led the NHL in save percentage and, alongside Joseph Woll, formed one of the league's top tandems. Stolarz struggled earlier this season while Woll was on personal leave, and the team spent much of the season outside a playoff spot. A January hot streak backed by Woll and Dennis Hildeby briefly returned Toronto to contention, but Stolarz looked rusty in a 6-3 loss upon his initial return.
