Leafs practice notes: Stolarz projected to start vs. Devils, no changes to lineup
"It's not about that. It's about where he's slotted right now. He's on the 2nd unit on the PP, didn't get much time there. But he did some good things, made some good puck plays, worked hard, competed. It is what it is."
The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to face the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday with Anthony Stolarz as the projected starter. Stolarz recorded 23 saves in Monday's game and carries a 7-8-2 record with an .887 save percentage this season. Joseph Woll will start Thursday's game against the Rangers. Nick Robertson, Calle Jarnkrok, and Troy Stecher are healthy scratches. Rookie Easton Cowan remains on the fourth line despite limited ice time. Coach Craig Berube expressed satisfaction with Cowan's effort and positioning. With Friday's trade deadline approaching, several players including Robertson, Bobby McMann, Nicolas Roy, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson may be traded. Additionally, Chris Tanev underwent core muscle surgery and is expected to return for September training.
