Fake versions of Labubu dolls, known as 'Lafufus', are posing significant health risks to children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an alert citing dangers such as dolls small enough for children to choke on, and reports of these knockoff toys breaking apart easily. The agency is working to seize shipments of the fake dolls from China, which violate federal regulations. Consumers are advised to only buy authentic dolls that feature a holographic sticker and scannable QR code to ensure safety.
These fake Labubu dolls are dangerous, illegal, and have no place in American homes. No parent should have to wonder if a toy will stop their child from breathing. Protect your children and buy only from reputable sellers.
Some of the lookalike dolls, which are sold as both plush figures and plush keychains, are small enough for a child to fit the doll in their mouth and block their airway.
The CPSC said it has also received reports of fake Labubu dolls breaking easily apart into small pieces that can be choking hazards for kids.
The agency has identified multiple shipments of the fake dolls as they attempted to make their way from China into the U.S. and requested seizure of thousands of units after confirming they violated federal regulations.
