Craig Berube praises Troy Stecher's confidence, chemistry with Jake McCabe
"He is playing with a ton of confidence right now. He is very composed. He and (Jake) McCabe look like they have instant chemistry right now, which is great. They are moving the puck extremely well. When you talk about pace, Stecher plays with pace out there. He closes on people, he skates, and he gets up the ice. He is doing a lot of good things."
"I didn't know a ton about him, but when I watch him on the blue line in the offensive zone, he moves his feet extremely well and gets shots through. You don't know a guy until you get him, a lot of the time. You watch people play, and you watch other teams play, but until you get a guy, you don't know the personality."
Stecher scored from the point and added an assist in the winning effort, demonstrating speed, tenacity, and an ability to facilitate clean exits. He displays confidence, composure, instant chemistry with Jake McCabe, and effective puck movement that improves transitions. His pace shows in closing on opponents, strong skating, and getting up the ice to join the attack. He told Easton Cowan and Nick Robertson before the game that he was going to score, and he did. Elevated partly due to injury, he is earning minutes, producing a +5 on-ice differential and a 62.7% expected-goals share, and emerging as a bright spot heading into the Carolina matchup.
