Blue Jays: Prospect Grant Rogers gets the nod for Opening Day in Buffalo
"Across both levels, Rogers pitched to a 3.47 ERA with a 6.9 K/9 and a 1.251 WHIP through a career high 150 1/3 innings. He started hot in Vancouver, keeping the bats at bay in the hitter-friendly confines of the Northwest League."
"With the Fisher Cats, Rogers saw a slight uptick in his ERA (4.07) and H/9 (9.6) against better competition but was able to command the strike zone, allowing just 20 free passes to the tune of a 1.6 BB/9."
"Rogers is one name to keep an eye on in Buffalo as the Jays' starting depth is being tested out of the gate. He and left-hander Adam Macko are both on the big league radar this season."
Grant Rogers, a right-hander and 11th-round pick by the Blue Jays in 2023, will start for the Bisons against the RailRiders. He had a 3.47 ERA and 150 1/3 innings pitched last season across Double-A and High-A. Rogers showed strong command with a 1.6 BB/9 and allowed only 10 home runs. In spring training, he made three starts with a 7.00 ERA but maintained good command. He is a prospect to watch as the Jays' starting depth is tested.
