Blue Jays place Bichette on 10-day injured list with left knee sprain | CBC Sports
"I was talking to Ernie this morning and he was asking about Bo and I think it kind of surprised everyone a little bit that he was going to be out for a little bit but they're ready for it. I don't really think there's too many things this team isn't ready for at this point. They understand where we are."
"You never really know until you get an MRI. I was going off of talking to him, talking to the trainers, checking in with him yesterday, on the off day. I thought we were going to dodge a bullet based on how we felt afterwards on Saturday and then Sunday, thinking we have an off day. [...] You've got to kind of wait to see what the MRI says."
Ernie Clement and Isiah Kiner-Falefa will step into Toronto's infield after All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left knee, retroactive to Sunday. Bichette did not play in Sunday's finale and required an MRI to determine the injury's severity. Manager John Schneider said Clement was slotted into the shortstop spot and Kiner-Falefa will share infield duties, expressing confidence in the team's readiness. Outfielder Joey Loperfido was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo as a corresponding move; he is hitting .358 with three homers, 10 RBIs and a .409 OBP in 30 games. Bichette leads MLB with 181 hits and 44 doubles.
