"The 21-year-old didn't have a great end to his 2024 season, slashing just .185/.309/.272 with one home run in 97 plate appearances. Like the year prior, Coffey spent his entire 2025 season in High-A, slashing .273/.359/.427 with 11 home runs in 440 plate appearances for a 119 wRC+. Selected by Boston in the second round of the 2022 draft out of Liberty High School, Coffey began as a two-way player and struggled in a brief 2022 showing. He spent 2023 mainly in Single-A, hitting .226/.341/.348 with six homers and a 97 wRC+. The 2024 finish was poor (.185/.309/.272 in 97 plate appearances), but 2025 showed clear improvement in High-A with a .273/.359/.427 line, 11 home runs, 119 wRC+, a 10.7% walk rate and a career-best 22.7% strikeout rate. Fangraphs ranked him 27th in the Blue Jays system with modest present hit grades, stronger future projection, and noted weakness versus down-and-away breaking balls.
