Blue Jays' Max Scherzer throws bullpen session in recovery from forearm tendinitis | CBC Sports
"Alejandro Kirk, who broke his left thumb April 3 when hit by a foul tip, caught Bieber's most recent side session. When he got hurt, Kirk was projected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. "He's continuing to catch, throw, hit. Not fully hitting regular BP yet, but making progress," Schneider said. Right-hander Yimi Garcia is to throw a bullpen session Tuesday as he returns from elbow surgery late last season. Outfielder Nathan Lukes, sidelined since April 24 by a strained left hamstring, is to be a designated hitter with class A Dunedin on Tuesday, then play the outfield in a couple of games."
Max Scherzer, recovering from right forearm tendinitis, threw about 22 pitches in a bullpen session Monday at Yankee Stadium and is expected to throw another bullpen session Wednesday in New York. If that session goes well, the next step would likely be batting practice. Toronto manager John Schneider said the plan depends on how Scherzer responds. Shane Bieber, sidelined since spring training with right elbow inflammation, is scheduled to throw batting practice Tuesday for about 30 pitches simulating two innings, with Alejandro Kirk catching his most recent side session. Kirk is progressing after a left thumb injury. Yimi Garcia is scheduled to throw a bullpen Tuesday while returning from late-season elbow surgery. Nathan Lukes, dealing with a strained left hamstring, will serve as a designated hitter with Class A Dunedin before returning to the outfield in subsequent games.
