Blue Jays Injury Updates: Barger dealing with elbow joint inflammation, Lukes progressing towards rehab assignment, Bieber to throw one-inning live BP and more
"The Blue Jays' skipper also provided a few other updates, including the details of Shane Bieber's upcoming live BP session at the player development complex down in Dunedin, Fla. He's scheduled to throw one up (or one inning) against minor-league hitters, who he'll face for the first time since entering camp with right forearm fatigue. Bieber is still probably another week or two from beginning a rehab assignment. But he's "continuing to go in the right direction," as Schneider said."
Addison Barger was placed back on the 10-day injured list due to right elbow joint inflammation from his return against the Los Angeles Angels. He received a cortisone injection and will be shut down from baseball activities for 3-4 days. Optimism exists that the injury will be brief because a recent MRI showed no structural damage or loose bodies around the elbow, and the prior IL stint lasted nearly a month due to ankle soreness. Shane Bieber is scheduled for a live batting practice session in Dunedin, Florida, after right forearm fatigue, and he is still about a week or two from a rehab assignment. Nathan Lukes began a running progression for a left hamstring and is expected to run the bases after Thursday or Friday if he feels fine.
