Blue Jays' concerns have eased as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Dylan Cease avoid major injuries
The Toronto Blue Jays lost 4-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 24, ending a four-game winning streak. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. exited in the fifth inning after being hit by a pitch on the inside of his right arm. He immediately went for an X-ray, which returned negative results. Guerrero reported that his arm went numb and that he lacked feeling in his middle and pinky fingers, though he described it as only slightly painful. Dylan Cease also left in the fifth inning after shaking out his legs and receiving two visits from the training staff. An MRI confirmed cramping only, and Cease indicated he planned to make his next start.
"As for Cease, he underwent an MRI and that procedure confirmed that it was only cramping and nothing else. According to Sportsnet reporter Shi Davidi, the 30-year-old right-handed told Schneider that he planned to make his next start, while Schneider told reporters "all the testing and stuff seemed pretty positive,""
