Blue Jays assign Cutter Coffey and four others to Minor League camp
"Coffey, one of three prospects acquired in the Danny Jansen trade ahead of the 2024 trade deadline, is the most notable prospect of the five. In his first full season with the organization, the third baseman slashed .273/.359/.427 with 11 home runs in 440 plate appearances with the High-A Vancouver Canadians in 2025. That said, he had a rough Spring Training, slashing just .071/.071/.143 with a double in 14 plate appearances for a -61 wRC+."
"The best pitching prospect of the bunch is 2022 fourth-rounder Ryan Jennings. Last season in a relief role, the 26-year-old had a 3.72 ERA and 5.02 FIP in 58 innings pitched between the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, with a 29.6 K% and 15.5 BB%. The right-handed pitcher struggled in Spring Training, posting a 10.80 ERA and 9.03 FIP in an inning and two-thirds."
"Parker was drafted in the sixth-round of the 2024 draft. A catcher, he had a solid end to his 2024 season, slashing .235/.380/.519 with five home runs in 100 Single-A plate appearances. However, he slashed just .233/.301/.386 with eight home runs in 276 plate appearances in High-A last season."
The Toronto Blue Jays announced the reassignment of five prospects to Minor League camp as Opening Day approaches. Position player Aaron Parker, a 2024 sixth-round draft pick catcher, struggled in Spring Training with limited plate appearances and an 89 wRC+. Cutter Coffey, acquired in the Danny Jansen trade, had a strong 2024 season with High-A Vancouver but posted a -61 wRC+ during Spring Training. Pitcher Ryan Jennings, a 2022 fourth-rounder, showed solid 2024 numbers but struggled significantly in Spring Training with a 10.80 ERA. Chad Dallas, recovering from Tommy John surgery, missed 2025 but showed promise in limited Spring Training action.
