Bieber set for Blue Jays debut on Friday
Briefly

Shane Bieber, acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays, will debut on Friday against the Miami Marlins after recovering from Tommy John surgery. He has played three games with the Buffalo Bisons, the Blue Jays' minor league affiliate, following his surgery in April 2024. This marks his return to the major leagues since April 2, 2024, when he had an impressive performance for the Cleveland Guardians. The Blue Jays expect significant contributions from Bieber as they aim for a World Series title, with his decision to opt-out in the offseason pending a strong finish to the season.
When Bieber goes to the mound in the bottom of the first, it will be a big moment for both the Blue Jays and for Bieber personally.
Bieber has spent all season recovering from Tommy John surgery and made three starts with Blue Jays minor league affiliate Buffalo Bisons.
Bieber underwent the procedure in April of 2024 while still a member of the Cleveland Guardians, and Friday will be his first time on a big league mound since April 2, 2024.
It's something General Manager Ross Atkins has said on the record and it sets the high expectations for Bieber's debut.
