"Welcome to the Carolinas! I'm Vulture TV critic Roxana Hadadi, and I'll be recapping this season as the series returns to the part of the South where it previously stomped around for season 14 back in 2017. That was Top Chef: Charleston and this is Top Chef: Carolinas, so that season was more South Carolina and this season so far is more North Carolina."
"We have a pair of competitive brothers and a couple who have been together for 16 years; the vibe from the former, Jonathan and Brandon, is sort of fun. But the vibe from the latter is sort of yikes, as Jennifer and Justin have to keep explaining why they're not married yet."
"We open at the Charlotte Motor Speedway - famed location of my beloved Logan Lucky! - where each team of three chefs is supposed to cook a dish in the time it takes for a professional driver to complete 23 laps around the track (23 laps, 23 seasons, you get it)."
Top Chef: Carolinas premiered early on Peacock and will air on Bravo March 9. The season returns to the Carolinas region, following the previous Charleston season from 2017. The premiere episode features 15 chefs meeting at Charlotte Motor Speedway for a Quickfire challenge where teams of three must cook a dish during 23 laps of professional racing. Notable casting includes two competitive brothers and a couple together for 16 years. Chefs cannot plate their dishes until the driver begins the 23rd lap. The Quickfire win no longer provides elimination immunity but offers other advantages.
