"America simply cannot get enough of that Bosch! Prime Video's longest-running series ended in 2021, and since then, there have been two spinoffs. Bosch: Legacy continued the adventures of Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch (yes, that's really his name) as he left the LAPD and became a private investigator. saw Bosch's frenemy Renée Ballard take over L.A.'s cold-case unit. And now, we're getting a prequel about Harry's first days on the force."
"This show will be quite the departure for the Bosch-iverse, as Michael Connelly hasn't written much about Bosch's days as a rookie cop. The standard formula for all the Bosch shows has been to adapt one to two books per season. Per Deadline, the show will be set in 1991, a totally chill time to be a cop in Los Angeles."
Prime Video's Bosch franchise expanded after the 2021 end of the original series with two spinoffs and now a prequel. Bosch: Start of Watch is set in 1991 and follows a 26-year-old Harry Bosch during his first days on the LAPD, where a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption test his loyalty to the badge. Cameron Monaghan will play young Bosch and Omari Hardwick will portray his training officer Eli Bridges. The prequel will stream on MGM+ rather than Prime Video. Ballard's cold-case series was recently renewed and The Lincoln Lawyer remains available on Netflix.
