The Witcher Recap: With Friends Like These
"When you lose your family, who can you count on? Separated by hundreds of miles and unable to achieve their goals alone, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are each stuck depending on the kindness of strangers, even if those strangers might not necessarily have their best interests at heart. As Geralt and his party continue their march toward Nilfgaard, they decide to take a shortcut through Fen Carn. It's a centuries-old elven cemetery, so no one can be shocked when they end up in a fight with a wrathful wraith (even if it's entirely Jaskier's fault for summoning the monster in the first place)."
"Regis is played by Laurence Fishburne, and as anyone who watched NBC's Hannibal could tell you, adding him to your show's ensemble cast is always a good idea. Playing Regis, a self-described "barber-surgeon" with a huge pompadour who lives alone in a cemetery, Fishburne is obviously having a ball. There are roughly 1 million reasons not to trust this guy - my personal favorite is when he reveals he's dedicated his life to "the study of pain" - but Geralt is the only one who initially declines the booze, hanging back while he tries to figure out what Regis's deal is. (Some advice: If you don't want Regis's deal spoiled before The Witcher is ready to reveal it, don't Google anything about him.)"
Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are separated and forced to rely on strangers while pursuing their goals. Geralt's party takes a shortcut through Fen Carn, an ancient elven cemetery, and confronts a wrathful wraith after Jaskier summons it. The group accepts hospitality from Emiel Regis, a soft-spoken loner who lives in the cemetery and offers potent liquor. Regis, portrayed by Laurence Fishburne, presents himself as generous and enigmatic while tending wounds and revealing a lifelong dedication to the study of pain.
