Co-creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo are partnering with Clavell's estate to continue Yoshii Toranaga's story. Season 2 will jump ten years beyond the Season 1 finale and expand scale to include major battle sequences that were omitted previously. Production will not return within a single year; a two-year or longer gap is possible for high-profile streaming shows. The decade jump will allow characters to be revisited anew, reveal how lives changed, and enable a pivot to new thematic territory.
