Tell Me Lies Recap: Say Nothing
"Chat, am I spending too much time on Wrigley and Bree in these recaps? There are five other main characters with rapidly deteriorating lives that deserve our attention, but what is a recapper to do? It's not my fault that Wrigley and Bree are the only two who are actually doing things. Everyone else is doing more or less exactly the same thing they did last week. The only thing that's changed is the theme of the party."
"Last week, Lucy and Pippa were confronted by Chris, Stephen brought around a new victim, sorry, I mean girlfriend, Pippa and Diana fooled around behind Wrigley's back, Stephen tormented Diana, Evan treated women badly, and Alex and Lucy got off on Lucy's self-loathing. This week, the gang does all of those things again, but this time they're doing it while drawing teardrops on their faces with black eyeliner for goth Valentine's Day."
Wrigley and Bree take new actions that push plot developments forward, while five other main characters remain trapped in repetitive, deteriorating patterns. Lucy's mental health is declining and remains a focal point. Pippa and Lucy experienced confrontation with Chris, Stephen introduced a new girlfriend and continues to torment Diana, and Pippa and Diana secretly hook up behind Wrigley's back. Evan repeatedly treats women poorly, and Alex engages with Lucy's self-loathing. The group repeats these dynamics during a goth Valentine's Day where characters draw teardrops with black eyeliner. Bree visits Marianne after Wrigley criticizes Marianne's misplaced anger, and Stephen escalates abuse by sending Diana's nudes to her father.
