Task Is No Great Mystery
"If has one character constant, it's this: Handsome, lushly brunette men with Delco accents tend to display divided loyalties. Of course the task force's leak was Anthony Grasso. Of course it was! This is a show about patterns of behavior, and Fabien Frankel 's Grasso is the third point of the fucked-up-hotties triangle formed by Mark Ruffalo's Tom and Tom Pelphrey's Robbie. All signs pointed to him."
"Tom is torn between loyalty to his dead wife and love for the estranged son who killed her. Robbie can't decide if he cares more about revenge for his dead brother, killed by the Dark Hearts biker gang, or about getting out of town and starting a new life with his children. Both are unable to commit to what they want; both are driving themselves headfirst into doom."
Anthony Grasso is revealed as the task force leak and a committed mole for the Dark Hearts. Tom struggles between loyalty to his dead wife and love for the estranged son who killed her. Robbie oscillates between vengeance for his dead brother and a desire to escape with his children. Grasso mirrors both men through divided loyalties, guilt, and avoidance of intimacy. He expresses Catholic guilt, dates Lizzie but cannot sleep with her, and boasts about her honor while proving untrustworthy. Grasso meets Dark Hearts leader Jayson privately and texts him directly, indicating deep involvement and significant risk.
