Disney canceled The Acolyte after one season in 2024, leaving significant narrative possibilities unexplored. Showrunner Leslye Headland and actor Manny Jacinto noted unrealized threads, including a potential reveal that Qimir, the dark-sided Stranger, could have been one of the first Knights of Ren. That revelation would have linked the High Republic era to the age of the First Order and provided an origin for a major franchise plot gap. Jacinto wanted to deepen the Stranger’s apprenticeship with Osha (played by Amandla Stenberg) and explore the series’ pronounced sexual tension and seduction by the dark side, arguing that romance is missing from many large franchises.
