"After the tumult of their last few adventures, it only makes sense for the Enterprise crew to take a well-earned vacation. But, as "Four-and-a-Half Vulcans" opens, some crew members seem determined to get in their own way when it comes to rest and relaxation. Though bound for the spa planet Purmantee III, Una has expressed her determination to stay behind and work."
"While sparring with Pike, Marie reveals that she too sees the upcoming shore leave as a chance to focus on something other than zoning out and reading the latest Jack Reacher adventure by the pool. Marie's old boss,Admiral Pasalk (Graeme Somerville), a judge advocate general, will also be on Purmantee III. And though her health may prevent her from assuming captain's duties on a ship, she could return to the court, especially if Pike would help her host him for dinner."
The Enterprise crew plans shore leave on spa planet Purmantee III. Una chooses to remain aboard and work, prompting La'an to suspect a connection to the destination. La'an sends Spock away and then describes their status as casual dating, creating mutual awkwardness neither can fully explain. Marie intends to use shore leave to focus on career matters and seeks to impress Admiral Pasalk to revive legal duties, with Pike invited to assist at dinner. The Enterprise must also consider intervening to prevent a Tezaar nuclear catastrophe despite potential Prime Directive violations caused by prior Vulcan contact.
