Sinclair won't broadcast Kimmel's show despite it returning to ABC
""Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming," the network said in a Monday evening statement."
""Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return.""
Sinclair will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! across its ABC affiliate stations beginning Tuesday night and will replace the program with news programming. Sinclair said that it and ABC are evaluating the show’s potential return. Nexstar previously announced it would pull the program from its lineup and its decision to follow Sinclair is unclear. Nexstar is the largest local broadcast group in the U.S. and recently agreed to acquire Tegna, the fourth-largest local broadcaster, in an all-cash deal valued at $6.2 billion. Uncertainty persists about whether other local affiliates will also preempt the show ahead of any return.
