Savannah Guthrie Joins TODAY to Share Kids' Response to Vocal Chord Rest: 'You're Still Loud'
"Savannah, I was telling them how I called you the other week for you not to answer, so your voicemail would play, but you answered and just clapped over and over again like a seal," joked Jenna Bush Hager."
"good, boring, quiet."
"The kids said, 'Mom, even when you're quiet, you're still loud.'"
"We're gonna need a bigger white board."
Savannah Guthrie is recovering at home in week two of vocal rest after vocal cord surgery. She appeared on the Jan. 12 broadcast using a white board, smiling, nodding, clapping and snapping instead of speaking. She wrote "good, boring, quiet." and described journaling, painting and reading Theo of Golden by Allen Levi and Yes and ... Daily Meditations by Richard Rohr. She displayed watercolor paintings including a sunset, the TODAY logo and a black cat made with Jenna in mind. Coworkers exchanged jokes and praise, and she will return to Studio 1A next week. Her children observed that even when quiet she remains loud.
