Reality TV can be unserious and dramatic. It's also training political candidates
Luke Gulbranson decided to run for Congress after a personal moment involving family calls, prayer, and watching President Trump speak. He will challenge Republican Rep. Peter Stauber in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District as a Democrat in 2026. Gulbranson is a political newcomer and first-time candidate, but he previously appeared for three seasons on Bravo’s “Summer House” and two seasons on “Winter House.” Other 2026 entrants include Farrah Abraham for Austin City Council and Spencer Pratt for Los Angeles mayor. David Bresenham, a Stanford lecturer, says reality TV experience helps candidates handle conflict, cameras, and public backlash.
