"Overcompensating follows Skinner as Benny, a new college student and former football player who is queer but in the closet. As he navigates his freshman year, he befriends fellow newbie Carmen (Wally Baram) and the pair embark on a journey to fit in by whatever means possible. Cue endless awkward sex encounters, friend fallouts, and cringe-worthy attempts to impress the college's football jocks - including his sister's boyfriend, Peter (Adam DiMarco)."
Prime Video renewed Overcompensating for a second season, confirming the queer college comedy will return to Yates University. Benito Skinner created the show and stars as Benny, a closeted queer freshman and former football player. Benny befriends fellow newbie Carmen and they attempt to fit in through awkward sexual encounters, friend fallouts, and attempts to impress football jocks including Peter, his sister's boyfriend. Season one featured Benny falling for frat brother Miles and concluded with Benny still in the closet and his friendship with Carmen strained. The series incorporated pop songs from Britney Spears, Lorde and Nicki Minaj and included a guest appearance by Charli XCX.
