"I have to give a ton of credit to Pluribus series creator Vince Gilligan, because I haven't felt more furious at a TV show's main character since he wrote Breaking Bad. I'll admit that it's very funny to watch a miserable person like Pluribus's Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn) suffer through the end of the world. There's certainly a little Carol in all of usif we would just allow ourselves to give into her pit of selfishness and disgust. But with a premise as enticing as the quest to save humanity by reversing the master plan of some body-snatching aliens, you really wish Carol knew more about who (or what) she was dealing with by now."
"Gilligan likely sensed that viewers might be feeling some frustration this week. He named episode 4 Please, Carol to match what I say every time I beg her to ask the hive mind one single question about how they operate. So, as if the people inside my little TV box were actively listening, episode 4 finally sees Carol begin her investigation in earnest."
Episode 4 of Pluribus propels Carol Sturka into a genuine investigation of the hive mind after escalating frustrations with her character's ignorance. The series blends dark humor and apocalypse-scale stakes by framing a mission to reverse a body‑snatching alien plan. Carol returns from the hospital to discover hive-mind helpers repairing her home and lawn, revealing that panicked nods can be construed as permission. A mayor jokes "Thanks for your vote," undercutting the hive's collective rhetoric. The episode finally forces Carol to confront questions about how the hive operates while balancing comedic beats and mounting suspense.
