On location: uncovering the Spanish hotspots used in the filming of ITV's hottest new drama, 'Frauds'
"As Bert is released from prison on compassionate grounds after a 10-year stint, her ex-partner-in-crime, Sam (who was spared jail, but we'll go easy on the spoilers), meets her at the gates. What follows is the unravelling of a toxic friendship and plenty of secrets as Bert convinces Sam to commit one last 'hurrah' - by committing multi-million pound art theft from one of Spain 's busiest galleries."
"Shooting in Tenerife offered us everything we needed and more. In a small area, you can have a sort of Costa del Sol beachside strip full of clubs (with everything from drag clubs to a magician's show), and then suddenly you can find yourself in what looks like an old Spanish town or up in lush, verdant mountains. In developing the show, we were also quite influenced by Westerns, and in that part of the world, you've also got these desert landscapes, which are vast."
Bert is released from prison on compassionate grounds after a ten-year sentence and reunites with her ex-partner-in-crime, Sam, at the prison gates. The pair navigate a toxic, time-honoured friendship that unravels as Bert persuades Sam to attempt one final multi-million-pound art theft from a busy Spanish gallery. The six-part ITV drama stars Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker, with Elizabeth Berrington and Christian Cooke in supporting roles, and has drawn praise for lead performances. Much of the production was filmed in Tenerife, where diverse landscapes and venues like the Music Hall Tavern stand in for southern Spain.
